land-rover-lrx.jpgNext month at the Detroit Auto Show, Land Rover will be unveiling its very first green concept car, a lighter-weight LRX that will feature better fuel efficiency and lower emissions, as well as a bevy of other eco-friendly tweaks like vegetable-tanned seat leather and interior carpeting made of sustainably sourced felt. The four-wheel drive LRX is said to share the agility of Land Rover’s signature SUVs while delivering the more environmentally responsible benefits of a compact. Along with its polycarbonate side windows and sunroof (which are 40% lighter than glass), the LRX will also feature 100% recycled faux suede made from used plastic bottles and rely heavily on aluminum,  which is both readily recyclable and lightweight.
